Security & Security Holes

Principally all the online casinos make a great effort, to give your play the greatest security and to prevent all types of play manipulation or cheating. However there are certain tricks from cheaters that they repeatedly use to try and manipulate the game. That’s why you should allways follow these tipps when playing online to help minimize risks.

The principle used by hackers is relatively simple. The easiest way for hackers to manipulate play is by  getting your entry data, passwords, or to place a trojan on your computer so they can see the information undetected.

1. The E-mail-Trick:

You receive an E-mail, often it could be with the sender information from your online casino, where you are requested to do something like make a deposit in your account like normal on your providers site. In the E-mail there is a link that you can use to directly log In. The log in site that you use to log in looks original, just like the site from your provider, it could be a duplicate site on a completely different server unknown to you. You enter your user information and your password and will be logged on to your rrovider, at the same time the duplicate site saves your information. The log in was, for you, no different. However the hacker now has your data and can use your information to do whatever they want like transactions and even more! At the same time they remain anonymous.

TIPP: Whether it will be online banking, provider, credit card payment or some other internet activity: If you are entering personal data, do this only by well known providers, who have your trust. Only enter passwords and personal information when you have entered the site by putting the address in the browser yourself. Never when you have entered through another site or link or e-mail. Further tipps may be found in "prevention"

2. The CD-ROM - Trick:

Most providers spread their gaming software on free CD-ROM’s that are recommended by other players and then shared. These CD-ROMs are a great security risk in that they may be manipulated relatively simply and contain a trojan and then be given to someone else. It may be completely unknown to the person who gives you the CD and it may have happened further up the chain.
Theoreticly the
program may be manipulated so the hacker can follow your every move completely unnoticed. The same thing may happen through a trojan or virus. A trojan is a small programm, quite unnoticeable, that will install it’self and show your moves or even your whole screen in real time on another Computer somewhere else in the World.

TIPP:
Don’t install your software from a CD-ROM that you received from someone. www.pokerchecker.com  has put together for you the original links where you can download the software directly from the provider. If you are not completely certain where your gaming software came from we would recommend that you deinstall it and then install once more from our  original-download-adresses direktly from the  casino-provider .

3. The Trojan - Trick:

As stated in part two, Trojans are small programs that enable hackers to gain access to your computer. This way they learn your passwords and can view all of your data without you noticing.
It is not so simple to install a
trojan onto your computer, the hacker must make you do it. When you follow the basic rules, you can avoid  the danger.

TIPP: Watch that, you have in any case a good anti-virus-program installed on your computer, the programs that can be recommended are found on the page "prevention".
Don’t install a
shareware-program from a free CD-ROM. If you get  e-mails with a DEMO-program, games or attachments, never open them! These often carry trojans.
When you open
e-mails or internet sites with a pop up window that ask you to install something or to click „OK“ allways „Cancel“ unless it is a trustworthy site.
Erase
e-mails with senders that you don’t know. Never open attachments on these e-mails, no matter what is said in the text! More about this and other types of data can be found on our  "prevention"-page.

4. Good friends ...

Watch out who you let on your computer! Treat your computer like your bank account! Don’t let friends use your computer even if they say they know what they’re doing. Don’t let them change the configuration of your PC, unless you trust them 100%. And even then you should allways be present and try to make sure that no shareware or other programs are installed that you don’t know where they came from.

If you follow the above listed tipps and the information on our prevention site you can play relatively safely in the internet. A good anti-virus-program and a firewall should allways be active when you play. Safety makes playing fun and that is the base for success.
